Union Arbresloise

2021 Exhibition

An exhibition of local artists belonging to the painting section of the Union Arbreloise ran from the 7th to 25th September 2021 at the Multimedia Library of L'Arbresle, Rhône, France

After my last exhibition in 2019, I decided to revisit the theme of space that I had begun in 2015. Having discovered the exceptional images of our solar system provided by the Rosetta space probe and the Martian landers among others, I decided to create a series of landscapes based on objects from the solar system. Some of the works are studies, close to the original photos. Others are complete inventions. The aim throughout was to transport the observer into space so they could see and feel these landscapes up close.

A number of these works were created during the pandemic. The sense of isolation felt during this period is visible in the works from March 2020 onwards, notably Artist's Impression of Venus.
