Union Arbresloise
2019 Exhibition
An exhibition of local artists belonging to the painting section of the Union Arbreloise ran from the 3rd to 22nd September 2019 at the Multimedia Library of L'Arbresle, Rhône, France
The exhibition featured 85 paintings and drawings as well as a small number of sculptures.
Inspired by an exhibition I saw in Lyon, I decided to produce a single large scale contemporary sculpture. Twenty years earlier, I had made a sculpture of a bat in wire and paper. Using this sculpture as a reference, I produced eleven others and hung them as a group to make Cloud of Bats.
Since the exhibition, I have rearranged the bats into more complimentary positions while also increasing the depth of the composition. It is now easier to see individual bats within the group. This is the new Cloud of Bats.
